The automotive market today is increasingly varied and diversified, starting with the types of cars available: sedan cars, hybrids, electric, coupe, spider, SUV, crossovers and then there are supercars. This is the most appreciated and desired segment by most drivers. Owning a supercar, for many of them, remains just a dream.

Then, however, there are the lucky ones, who can afford to own precious, rare, often unobtainable cars. Extreme in terms of both power and cost, design and luxury. They are vehicles purchased, mostly, by magnates, sovereigns, sheikhs, high-caliber entrepreneurs, for whom the price is not a problem.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF THE SUPERCARS

There are some characteristics common to all the most expensive cars in the world.

  • The extreme and avant-garde design of the technique with shaped lines and studied in detail;
  • An inspiring concept, obtained from a balanced combination of tradition and innovation;
  • The flat, lowered, aerodynamic cut such as to ensure exceptional performance;
  • The original instruments and options that ensure vehicle customization;
  • The exclusivity of these vehicles always produced in limited quantities.

The most expensive supercar in the world
The most expensive cars in the world have some common features.

These are the characteristics that have allowed them to be redefined as “hyper-sporty”. Moreover, the materials with which they are manufactured are no less peculiar. They reduce the weight of the vehicle, and are usually very expensive, as is the case of carbon fiber components. Finally, the engines with which the cars are equipped: a true hymn to automotive engineering. Biturbo or four turbos, most of them exceed 1.000 hp and this allows them to reach 100 km/h in a few seconds.

In fact, we can classify four types of "supercars" proposed by the various car manufacturers:

  • limited production cars from high-ranking companies;
  • cars with improved performance through “premium spare components”;
  • cars from small production companies aimed at a target of real enthusiasts;
  • cars with cutting-edge technologies made by upgrading existing models.

THE IDENTIKIT OF THE PURCHASER OF A SUPERCAR

Enthusiasts who invest in luxury cars are individuals with a financial capacity of at least one million euros, most of whom, however, have superior wealth, carry out successful activities in the banking and financial sectors, with an age between 40 and 65 years. Or they are famous people such as pilots, footballers, actors aged between 20 and 40.

The passion for supercars has no borders
From the Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation, passion for supercars has no borders.

The non-territoriality of the owners of four-wheeled jewels is one of the most relevant characteristics. From the Arab Emirates to Kuwait, from South Africa to the Russian Federation, up to Canada and Australia passing through the States, the passion for supercars has no borders.

There are those who own a fleet of about 7.000 cars, consisting of 209 BMWs, 574 Mercedes Benz, 452 Ferraris, 179 Jaguars, 382 Bentleys, 134 Koenigsggs, some Lamborghinis, Aston Martin, Shelby SSC and so on. This lucky person has a name and a surname, Hassanal Bolkiah, and he is the Sultan of Brunei, a small but rich state. From time to time, some images circulate of what the sultan keeps in his garage and then there are countless unique cars built just for him, starting with Pininfarina's Ferrari Mythos.

Speed, style and beauty are among the highest forms of vanity and this quirky combination is perfectly summed up in the epic collection owned by Ralph Lauren of Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Mercedes, Bentley, Jaguar, McLaren F1 and many other cars, for a total of over 60 masterpieces of the technique. He is a fashion and style tycoon, but his luxury cars collection represents a phenomenal spectacle. 98% of the models in his collection are red and the cars are positioned on white platforms which are themselves placed on a black carpet inside a garage in New York.

The supercar instrumentation
The supercar instrumentation must be considered technically pioneering.

Supercars are the symbol of ingenuity and the ability of individuals to shape the matter and make it a living mechanic: a symbol of man's desire to run faster and faster.

SUPERCARS. SINCE 2019, THE HUGE GROWTH IN MATRICULATIONS

It is a matter of fact that the profits made by luxury car manufacturers are reaching unprecedented levels. The luxury car market knows no crisis, despite the pandemic effect. According to a recent analysis by market research firm Jato Dynamics, profits in the luxury car sector in the post-health emergency period are at an unprecedented level. Overall registrations are still in decline, but for those who can afford expensive cars, the recovery has already begun and is great. Wealthy customers willing to pay for technologically innovative, customizable, high-performance vehicles rule the super-luxury vehicle market.

“Trends in Global Super Luxury Vehicles Market, 2016 - 2025”, a recent study by Frost & Sullivan's Automotive & Transportation Growth Partnership Subscription program, examined the impact of connectivity, electrification and autonomous technology on the future of super luxury vehicles globally.

A much-awaited restyling is also that of the Lamborghini Urus, one of the most iconic models on the market today. The car will further raise the bar by becoming even more powerful and technological. There will be some aesthetic changes with a new bumper with an "upgrade design" for the air intakes. There will be changes also in the design of the optical groups and, probably, also in the engine hood.

TRASAUTO LOGISTICA. SAFETY OF THE INSURED TRANSPORT

The transport of supercars for our company means "attention to detail". A supercar needs attention and a very accurate logistical organization and this is mainly due to the set-up, conformation and size typical of high-end cars. Depending on the type of trip and the models transported, our company determines whether to provide one or more drivers for the same truck and what will be the type of trailer to use.

The responsibility of transporter les supercars
Responsibility for a valuable cargo requires a very high level of competence.

Considering luxury cars, these are particularly delicate and require specific transport, almost comparable to that of a work of art. For example, in order to avoid damage to tires, upholstery, paint or electrical circuits, some trailers have internal temperature regulation. By proceeding in this way, the car is preserved from the harsh climates of Northern Europe or the suffocating heat of the North African desert.

THE INTERMODAL SOLUTIONS IN THE TRANSPORT OF A SUPERCAR

Transporting goods, or in this case supercars, means satisfying the need to move a load from a place of origin to a specific destination, in the most effective and efficient way possible. A transport is effective when it meets the customer's needs (for example in terms of speed, safety, flexibility), and it is efficient when it achieves the expected result while minimizing the use of the resources (money, fuel, etc.). However, it may happen, that our supercar needs to use several combined modes of transport to reach a destination. A transport to be carried partly by sea and partly by road, is an example of intermodal transport, because it involves different means of transport.

Intermodal transport of supercars
Intermodal transport is efficient when it obtains the best result by minimizing the use of resources.

However, long distances are not a problem if:

  • it is guaranteed to serve sufficient international and intercontinental routes
  • a correct policy of passage between the various commercial ports is implemented
  • the management of the exchange between the commercial areas of the various countries is well organized
  • suitable storage points are identified according to the distance and for each mode
  • efficient transport planning is ensured using vehicles, containers and packaging.

This type of transport is particularly suitable for loads of large dimensions or quantities, which have to travel on average long distances (over 250-300 km).

Once the minimum requirements have been satisfied and the potential advantages linked to the use of intermodal transport have been identified, it is necessary to carefully analyze the needs for the transport of goods, in order to understand if the identified intermodal combination can be considered the right choice according to the criteria previously identified with the client.

Excellent transport planning
Trasauto Logistica ensures an efficient planning of the transport using vehicles, containers and packaging.

Therefore, it is fundamental to contact qualified and independent operators, capable of offering real logistic consultancy and defining a medium and long-term organic project together with the customer. It is a complex modality, which requires specific skills, bureaucratic familiarity, enormous experience, listening skills and "problem solving". This type of solution can bring important benefits for clients, which often means relevant and lasting competitive advantage.
